Day 1: Entebbe or Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Day 4: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Forest
Today is the highlight of your five day Uganda safari. Wake up early and have breakfast before travelling to the Uganda Wildlife Authority meeting point for registration and briefing.
The morning briefing is an important part of the experience. Rangers and guides explain the rules governing gorilla encounters, safety procedures, responsible behaviour and what you should expect inside the forest.
You then begin the trek into Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Searching for the Gorilla Family
Unlike visiting an attraction where animals remain in a predictable location, gorilla habituation begins with a search.
The trackers have information about the recent location of the gorilla family, but the animals are free to move through the forest.
You may therefore walk for a relatively short period or spend several hours searching through the dense vegetation before reaching them.
The terrain can be demanding.
Bwindi is a mountainous rainforest with steep slopes, narrow paths, tree roots, rocks, thick vegetation and muddy sections, particularly after rainfall.

Returning From the Forest
After the designated habituation period and the completion of the day’s activities, begin the trek back through the forest.
The time required to return depends on where the gorillas were found and the route taken.
Once you reach the trailhead, meet your driver and return to the lodge. On return from the forest, park authorities will award you with a gorilla habituation certificate in recognition of your participation in the activitity.
This is normally a good afternoon to rest after the physical demands of the forest.
If you still have energy, you can enjoy the surroundings of the lodge or take part in an optional community activity.

The return journey provides another opportunity to appreciate the changing landscapes of Uganda. Depending on your preferred route and departure time, you may stop at the Equator for photographs, lunch or souvenir shopping.
If your international flight departs on the same day, we strongly recommend allowing sufficient time between the safari and your flight. Road journeys in Uganda can be affected by traffic, weather, road conditions and other unforeseen delays.
For travellers with a late international flight, your guide can arrange a suitable drop off at Entebbe International Airport.
Alternatively, you can spend the night in Entebbe and continue your journey the following day.

During these months, forest trails are often easier to navigate and conditions are generally favourable for game drives and outdoor activities.
